Sometimes you set out to accomplish one thing, and end up somewhere totally different. Such is the story of this song.
It’s a cover of Hell on Heels, by the Pistol Annies. They’re a badass group of four women who have an awesome repertoire of 4-part mostly-vocal pieces. I love singing their stuff so much and this song is one of my favorites.
This cover really wasn’t supposed to happen. I was going to record some Christmas carols because it’s, you know, Christmas-time. Alas, my voice was not cooperating, it sounded ugly, and I was getting pretty annoyed. I had this song stuck in my head at the time so I decided to do a tester-pancake recording just to kind of relax and get back in the groove.
This piece is based off that tester-recording. I never re-recorded the main line… Just said “hey that’s nice, doesn’t the second line go something like this?” and kept adding to it. The power of relaxing and having fun never fails!
Hope you enjoy this moment of Grace-At-Her-Most-Country ๐
